Systemic therapy
What is SYSTEMIC THERAPY?
Systemic therapy is a psychotherapeutic method which, as the fourth recognised guideline procedure alongside the psychotherapeutic procedures that already exist, such as psychodynamic psychotherapy, analytical psychotherapy and behavioural therapy, may be used for all the indications laid down in the Psychotherapy Guideline. It is suitable for individuals as well as for couples and families.
As a systemic therapist I work with a systemic way of thinking and acting that sees the person, their environment and their relationships as a whole. As a result, I no longer locate the origin of a disorder primarily within the person, but instead place the client’s social network of relationships at the centre of my attention.
Families, groups, institutions and teams are therefore living systems. They develop according to systemic rules, both in their capacity to work and in their blockages and disturbances. Problems and disturbances are understood as compromises, or as attempted solutions in areas of conflict that it has not so far been possible to resolve more productively within the system. Disturbances are also understood in the sense of drawing on and strengthening the resources that are already there, in order to develop new and more productive solutions.
Recognising, understanding and changing
The aim of therapy is to widen the scope for perception and for action available to the individual and to the family system.
To achieve this, I would like to help you:
- to recognise the connections within networks of relationships
- to understand them
- to work towards change in a productive way
- to use your own energies economically and to cope better with boundaries
Is systemic therapy covered by statutory health insurance?
Psychologists holding a diploma, psychiatrists or medical psychotherapists with a certified systemic training are permitted to bill systemic therapy to the statutory health insurers.
Unfortunately this is not possible with me, as a Dipl. Sozialpädagogin (graduate social pedagogue).
My four-year advanced training as a systemic therapist for individuals, couples and families is, however, also certified by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Systemische Therapie, Beratung und Familientherapie (DGSF e.V.).
